Preaching Jesus! - Acts 2:14-23 The presence and power of the Holy Spirit gave new courage and boldness to Peter who only a few days earlier had denied his Lord with cowardice. Now he stands before a multitude in the streets of Jerusalem boldly rebuking a nation for its unbelief and crime. Also astonishing are the skill and the wisdom shown by this unschooled fisherman as he presents his Master's message. ...More
The Master's Touch - Mark 1:40-45 Jesus gave this man more than physical healing. This man needed to be healed of a dreaded disease. But Jesus touches the man's heart -- He touches his soul! And he instructs the man to do what will bring healing to his broken relationships as well.
Jesus wishes to do the same for us. He will save us from our sins, and give us life eternal, and He will heal all our hurts. Jesus will make us whole, in body, mind, spirit, and relationships. He will heal our hearts and heal our families. He will enable us to grow to be the people he has created us to be. And much, much more. ... More
Christ Can Change Things! - Luke 19: 9 The Christ of the New Testament lives today as the conqueror of death. That which He did during His earthly ministry, He continues to seek to do through His followers today. Christ came to change things for the better. Jesus sought to change the heart and mind of individuals by giving to them new insights concerning the nature and character of God. Our Lord sought to change the structures of society by bringing about great changes within every person. ... More
Christ Is Here! - Matthew 14: 28, 29; 1 Corinthians 4: 10 Here is a story from the life of Jesus which the early church preserved as being immensely relevant to its own storm-tossed existence. Was Christ really master of the vast, elemental forces of secularism and unbelief that flooded the world and threatened to sweep the church away? Should they really take Jesus at His word? That was the question. ...More
Was it just plain foolishness to rate His claims too highly? Or should they risk being fools for Christ's sake? This occurrence in the life of Jesus speaks to us today. ... More
The Name of Jesus - Matthew 1:21 Jesus is the most appropriate name that our Lord could receive. The Father knowing all about Jesus named Him well. The Father knew much more about the Lord Jesus Christ that all saints and angels put together, for "No man knoweth the Son but the Father." God, the Father, calls Jesus, a Saviour. Jesus is the Saviour because He saves. The salvation that Jesus gives is not temporary or common. Jesus saves us from our sins. ... More
The Heredity of Jesus - Matthew 1 Jesus' genealogy had a few black spots in it, but Jesus didn't ask His biographers to hide them. He was not ashamed to make public His human pedigree, and this suggests that He will never be ashamed of His present or future family tree, which includes you and me. The fact that He did not seek to erase some of the names from His genealogy is proof that He is not interested in erasing our names from the Book of Life, just because we are not perfect. So, we must not think that we are too bad for Jesus to accept us into his family, or to publicly admit His relationship to us.
Jesus' genealogy appears in two places. We find it in Matthew 1: 1-17, and in Luke 3: 23-38. The two lists are not the same. Luke traced Jesus' family through Mary. Matthew traced it through Joseph. It is through these two lists that we find hope for the entire human race. ... More
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus - Hebrews 12:2 Everything we need, we have in Christ. He has all the hope, all the love, all the grace, all the power, all the strength, all the wisdom, all the patience, all the guidance, all the encouragement, all the joy, all the endurance, all the gentleness, all the forgiveness, all the determination, all the submission, all the boldness that we need. The Lord Jesus has already run the race. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, and we will run the race well. ...More
Jesus Lives! - Matthew 28:1-10 On the third day He rose victorious over death and sin! He is both Saviour and King! They couldn't make the tomb strong and secure enough to stop Him rising! The earthquake and the angel only confirmed that He was already alive from the dead! The guards and the women were just doing their duty. They were following the routines set down for them by generations of custom and practice. But in the course of doing their duty, this great extraordinary event unexpected had interrupted their routine. The guards found that they were guarding an empty tomb, and the women found that their embalming spices were unnecessary! Jesus is not dead - He has been raised! ... More...
A Living Saviour - Acts 2:22-26 The greatest news the world has ever heard is that the tomb is empty! Christ has risen from the dead. Jesus demonstrated His great power over death. Easter is about His victory over sin and death and hell. Easter is about the sacrifice that the Son of God made on our behalf. A generation of young people, even young adults, do not know anything of sacrifice. They know about inconvenience, but a very, very few know about sacrifice. When we talk about the sacrifice of Jesus, they have no clue what that means. We should be so thankful that Jesus Christ was victorious over death! ... More
“I Am The Bread Of Life!" - John 6: 35,51 When Jesus performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes, declaring that He was the bread sent down from heaven, those who had heard Jesus and had eaten the food He miraculously provided were profoundly impressed. It is significant that this miracle occurred during the Passover season. It was not Moses who had given their forefathers manna in the wilderness, but it was God Himself, Jesus had pointed out -- "... My Father giveth you the true bread from heaven." (John 6: 32; cf. Nehemiah 9:15) Today, we all too often rely on people, organizations, or governments as our sources of supply. We even short-sightedly think we provide for ourselves by our own labor and resources, without thinking through to God. ...More
An Unwanted Saviour - John 1:11 From day one, man's sword was drawn ready to kill Him. Mankind didn't want Jesus then, and Jesus is not wanted now. There was no room for Jesus then, and there is no room for Him now. Bethlehem didn't want Him then, and it doesn't want Him now. Our country doesn't want Him either. He is not wanted by government. He is not welcomed in our public schools. He is not welcomed in our businesses. And, if the truth was know, He is not wanted in many of our churches. There isn't any room for Him in our present world. ... More
The Greatest Gift - John 3:16,18 We are not always happy with the gifts we get for Christmas. Every year most of us end up exchanging some items, either because they didn't fit or we didn't need them. Sometimes we return items because they just don't work. No one ever regrets receiving the Greatest Gift. John 3:16 also tells us that the greatest gift is a gift we will treasure for eternity. ...More
Come, See A Man - John 4:27-30 Today many preachers must have large congregations. Not many today are interested in witnessing to just one person. Today, everything must be spectacular with bands and orchestras, or else there is no reason to expect people to be interested in spiritual matters. We must pray to be concerned with the value of a single soul. In the heat of the day, the Lord Jesus found rest and refreshment in speaking to a woman whom many would not even look upon. If they did look upon her, it would be with eyes of scorn. We must pray to have the compassion of our Lord's heart. ...More
Rejoice, He Lives! - John 6:40 Christ's resurrection should effect us. We should be overcome with great joy! We should be shouting and singing praises to God! We should be slapping each other on the back and rejoicing with tears of great joy. Jesus Saves! Jesus Lives! .. ... More
Christ The Door - John 10:9 Jesus said, "I am the door." Christ is the only door! Jesus did not say, "I am a door." He said, "I am the door." There is a vast difference between a door and the door. There is only one door into God's fold, and that door is Christ. He is the only door. "There is none of the name given under heaven among men, whereby we must be saved. " Jesus said, "No man cometh unto the Father but by me.".... More
The Lordship Of Jesus - John 15:14 All of us need an authority. The freer we are, the greater the need for discipline. The discovery of an authority that is not tyrannical is an authority that can and must make righteous commands. An authority that can issue benevolent promises with ability and the will to fulfill them is one of the greatest needs of our world. That authority may be discovered in Jesus Christ!... .More
This Same Jesus - Acts 1:1-10 This same Jesus is still the only Saviour. "There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." This same Jesus is the only Saviour for lost souls. His precious blood is still the only possible agency for salvation. You do not have to explain Jesus! You do not have to apologize for Him! All you have to do is to lift Him up! He will do the rest! It is the same cross, the same gospel, and the same message. This same Jesus is still the only Saviour. ... More
Jesus Is Coming Again - Acts 1:10,11 The promise of His return (verse 11) is beyond any words we could ever say to describe that great event. The angelic visitors are saying that at a point in time and place, Jesus will again break from that other world into this world of time and history. The angels tell us that Christ's return is certain. We can count on it! " This same Jesus will come back again." He will step back again into visibility. Suddenly! He will be back! . .. More . Jesus Is Lord - Acts 2:33-36 Whether men know it or not -- Jesus Christ is Lord! The very forces that control our lives are dependent upon Him. There is no way to avoid Him. The whole world will have to deal with Jesus Christ. There is no option! He is Lord -- the Sovereign One -- He is supreme. Simon Peter says, "God hath made Him, this Jesus, both Lord and Christ." That is the Christian message to the world. . .. More
Jesus Christ And Him Crucified - 1 Corinthians 2:2 - Sermon by Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones You never know what the next news bulletin is going to bring forth. It is a world which is in a state of collapse in almost every respect. It is a time of great trouble and perplexity. And the great question that arises is this: Has the Christian Church anything to say at such a time? What has she got to say? What is the greatest need of the world tonight? What is the greatest need of every one of us, of every single human being? Now it is because I feel that the great Apostle here in these words deals with and answers those very questions that I am calling attention to this great announcement, this great proclamation by the Apostle. You notice that he says that he determined not to know anything among them save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. . ... More
Saviour Of Sinners - 1 Timothy 1:5 Jesus Christ is the everlasting source of eternal salvation. Only Jesus can break the power which holds man in chains of death. Only Jesus can avert the punishment which threatens all those who are without Christ. Only Jesus can open the fountains of grace to all who are still in their sin. Through Christ the law is vindicated, the holiness of God is honored, and mercy is offered to all because "Christ receiveth sinful men." Jesus received the wages of sin which He never earned, that we might have eternal life which we never deserved. .. ... More
Jesus Is Greater - Matthew 12:43 "And Solomon's provision for one day was 30 measures of fine flour; threescore measures of meal; 10 fat oxen; 20 oxen out of the pastures; 100 sheep, beside harts, roebucks, fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. For He had dominion over all the region..."
But with all the abundance Solomon had; he could not, as Jesus take 5 loaves and 2 small fish and feed 5,000 hungry men besides women and children. Solomon could not, as Jesus, change water into wine. Solomon could not touch his fingers to the eyes of a blind man and say, "Receive your sight!" But Jesus did! Solomon could not touch dead eardrums and make them hear again, but Jesus did. Solomon could not make the speechless speak again, but Jesus did. Solomon could not with all his power bring health to the sick, but Jesus did... Solomon with all his knowledge of men could not provide forgiveness for sin, but Jesus does. "The Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins." "Behold, a greater then Solomon is here!"or He had dominion over all the region.. -- From sermon by Dr. R. G. Lee .. .. More
Christ’s Great Compassion - Matthew 14:14 When He saw the multitude, He had compassion on them and healed their sick. He is ready to bring healing to those who are sick of soul. I want to you to picture in your mind that great multitude on which Jesus had compassion. I want to tell you about some who came to Jesus and found help and healing. . .. More
